A Blog about Japan and Tokyo

Japanese working mom's blog

Wet season is coming to Tokyo, Japan

It's cloudy and so humid today in tokyo. wet season arrives officially.

It lasts one month or neary two months...until the middle or the end of July.

This rainy season is called "tsu-yu".

"tsu" means "ume", plum or Japanese apricot. "Yu" means rain.

It coincides with the season of plums ripenining.

Japanese love umeboshi, dried ume, dried or pickled Japanese apricots.

Umeboshi is super sour!  suppai! becuause of citric acids in umeboshi.

When high humidity bothes you, try umeboshi, invigorating plums.

My kids love to play outside. they don't care the humidity weather at all.

I enjoy seeing beautiful hydrangea while kids play.
